First Year at Camp: 2016 (Started as Head of Recreational Staff)

Bit About Me: Before camp and still now, I work in sales for a Wholesale Electrical Distributor. The skills I learned there have helped me bring knowledge to Camp Possibilities working in Operations. While volunteering for Camp Possibilities as the Head of Recreational Staff, I’ve also volunteered for the JDRF Mid-Atlantic Chapter in various roles, primarily in outreach and community engagement. I am humbled to serve now as Camp Possibilities Operations Director and hope that the work I bring leaves a lasting impact on our campers, their family, and our staff.

Memory: I have so many of them but I’d have to say one that stands out is my 27th birthday. Every year, camp always falls on the week during my Birthday, and my team told me they wanted to celebrate it with me. Camp is always busy while we’re in session, and that day was no different. I was so focused on the work we needed to do to be prepared for the next event. As I walked out of the dining room at night, one of my teammates came up to me and said “Hey JB! We have a surprise for you!” I was ecstatic! I walked around the corner to what seemed like 20 of our Rec Staff and Counselors, armed and ready with an assortment of water guns. I was like “OH NO YOU’RE NOT” and ran like heck! In the end, I was caught, soaked, and don’t think I could have laughed any harder that night.
